A lot of my Hicks Family members lived up here years ago – Richard Hicks, Annie Broadhead, Deborah Woodford, Mary Jane Collings, George Hicks, Thomas Hicks, Hamilton Hicks – then Margaret Cook, Alice Cook, Christina Woolley.
So we wandered along on meandering roads from Yamba to Ballina – a long day’s driving with a lunch stop at Nimbin. And it was along this road that we began to see the anti-CSG Lock the Gate signs.
Mostly the rain held off until we neared Ballina and so we opted for a motel as we knew for the following few days we’d be staying with family and friends – it would have been impossible to get the trailer’s tent dry during that time.
